Yo yo Honey Singh Comeback

तुझे Diamond जैसे संभाल के रखना
प्यार का Appetizer चखना
और किसी पे गौर ना कर
मेरे पास आके बोल मुझे तू मखना
Have you heard the latest tunes of Honey Singh’s Makhna? Which one is your favourite his before or his after comeback looks?
I am not a big fan of Honey Singh, but slightly aware of his struggles with his illness last to last year. Due to my busy schedules of office, watching TV was not in my list, music channels are fairly absent from the list. Yesterday in a bday party children were dancing by tuning music channels on TV and I saw “Makhna” video of Yo Yo Honey Singh and sponatanously asked who is he? (Though I hardly know the names of recent rappers)
One kid replied, “Aunty Honey Singh hai”
And when I asked with surprise isko kya hua, aise kyun lag rha hai?
Kids replied in one voice “Aunty Pagal ho Gaya tha na...Comeback ke bad Ka look hai for a change”
As a mental health professional it pinched my mind and heart  and with irritation I just said, “Pagal Nai beemar ho Gaya tha”.
They took it lightly and though said Han Han wahi, but hardly bothered about the difference of emotion between these two words.
Will they ever understand this difference between “Pagal and Beemar”? Will they know that how it feels to live with mental illness?
Whatever illness is...it may be Honey Singh’s Bipolar Disorder, or Deepika’s Depression & anxiety, or Ileana D’cruz Body Dymorohic Disorder...,important is why common people call it pagalpan rather understanding the sufferings of the person and people living with them.
I don’t think it’s children who only say this with this attitude, they have learnt this from YOU (so called adults around - siblings, Senior friends, busmates, school, parents, teachers, relatives, etc) and it’s high time that we all change this attitude towards mental illness and related disorders.
This time Let’s know and sensitize others too, about Bipolar Disorder signs and symptoms which disappeared Our all time favourite Honey Singh for 18 months. He may be the bold enough to talk about this to us but not everyone is doing same. For making them understand that they need support treatment we should know more about it.
Bipolar Disorder is a disturbance of mood and so popularly known as “Mood Disorder - a brain disorder that causes unusual shifts in mood, energy, activity levels, and the ability to carry out day-to-day tasks”. There will be episodes of both Depression and Mania.
Signs and symptoms of Depression are:
1. low mood,
2. Low energy,
3. sadness,
4. death wishes,
5. worthlessness,
6. hopelessness
7. Lack of interest etc
Signs and Symptoms of Mania are:
1. elated mood
2. high energy,
3. irrelevant tall claims,
4. irritability,
5. aggression leading to destructive behaviour,
6. Purposeless increased activity
7. Marked reduced sleep etc.
Celebrity openness about these stigmatized issues led us to talk more about it, but derogatory words like “Pagal” force all common people not to talk about their illness. Sensitization and awareness are the keys, So Learn to pass positivity about Mental Health to newer generation through better education.
